The Leadership Institute is sponsored by the Region VIII Continuing Education Program for Community Rehabilitation Personnel at CTAT TRAINING, Montana State University-Billings, Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services and the Region VIII Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Speakers from CTAT TRAINING, UNC and other programs around the country present new information on best practices and offer technical assistance and support to participants. Participants from previous years are always invited.

This program is about becoming an even better player on a team -- any kind of team! We introduce the team concept and examine your role in the team structure and process. We will utilize many activities, including dancing, to help you experience team issues, such as communication, bringing new people into the team, appreciating different gifts and styles, etc. This will be a very interactive and active day, so wear comfortable clothing (remember "layer") and be prepared to dance or participate actively in other ways.

We may know that change and conflict are here to stay but how do we transform the stress it creates in our organizations and our lives into productive, workable relationships? Our world seems to headline "constant change" with a subtitle demanding that we do more with less. Adding in the complication of trying to get things done with others, who at times seem to have conflicting goals, can translate into stressful interactions. This highly interactive (and fun!) course will provide us with strategies that will help us explore making our interactions more productive, easier, and fun. We'll explore ways to stabilize our relationships in the turmoil and help colleagues and employees move through their understandable, yet unproductive, frustration and conflict.
